Supplemented with additional articles and Open Letter by Georgii Vladimov. The novel (in journal format) was banned for circulation in all Russian military libraries, including military bases outside Russia proper. This edition was also banned for circulation in many military libraries (not total ban) and 'Dom ofitserov' libraries all over Russia and at some military bases outside Russia. 'General i ego armiia' won the Russian Booker Prize in 1995. Vladimov’s Russian citizenship was restored in 2000, and he was buried at the cemetery at Peredelkino, the writer’s colony near Moscow.
