Published by a shortly lived Russian publishing house in London. VERY RARE in this condition. The book was printed on not better quality pulp paper for clandenstine distribution in the USSR and communist bloc countries and most of the copies ceased to exist without 10 or 15 years. Altogether were printed 1000 copies. Out of 1000 copies, ca. 200 copies ended behind Iron Curtain in 1980s. The book was distributed from Paris to various clerks, truck drivers and diplomats, working at various communist bloc countries institutions worldwide. The major target for distribution was Bulgarian and Hungarian personel at such institutions, with good ties to the Soviet institutions. In 1974, Hayek shared the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences (with Gunnar Myrdal) for his 'pioneering work in the theory of money and economic fluctuations and... penetrating analysis of the interdependence of economic, social and institutional phenomena.' |
