Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Aleksandr [Sasha] Galper has been writing poems and short stories since he can remember. Immigrated to the United States at the age of 19. Majored in creative writing at Brooklyn College, attending Allen Ginsberg class. Influenced mostly by American poets.Translations of his poems appeared in more than 30 magazines in the U.S. and the U.K. In Russia, he is considered a cult underground poet whereas mainstream Russian literary magazines ignore him for his lack of respect for rhyme; heavy erotic imagery; and being ''too American.''
