8 vo, very attractive custom made bibliophile binding in silk executed in Tientsin (China) in 1930s by a binder serving middle and upper middle class Russian émigré community in China. Original covers not preserved. VERY GOOD. VERY RARE. Most of the copies were read into pulp already in early1950s. Author´s Riga editions are rare.

One time prolific cult writer. Graduated from Moscow University. Since 1899 published numerous essays, novels and plays. Wrote for 'Russkoe Bogatstvo', 'Russkaia Mysl´´' and 'Russkaia Gazeta'. His scandalous 'Devstvennost´(´Virginity`) was published in 1913 and brought him dubious fame of Russia´most popular pornographic writer.In 1920´s and 1930s he was popular among émigré readers worldwide but especially in the Baltics and Germany. Starting from 1909 some of his books were translated into German and had their stable readership.
