The book was banned in the USSR from ca. 1936 and untill early 1960s for no special reason but a partual listing of book covers designed by Kirnarskii for Bukharin, Zinov´ev and Kamenev´s works. Some covers are reproduced in this monograph. 1000 copies printed at former Golike & Vil´borg printing shop. All illustrations are printed from artist´s plates.


Kirnarsky [Kirnarskiy, Kirnarski, Kirnarskii, Kirnarskij], Mark Abramovich is a Soviet graphic artist and book designer. Studied in VKhUTEMAS, the famous school of Russian Avant-garde. Exhibited in 1923 (Petrograd) with Tatlin, Filonov, Chernikhov; in 1927 (Leipzig) with Altman, Lissitzky; in 1928 (Cologne) with Klutsis, Telingater; in 1931 (Paris) with Popova (p/h), Rodchenko, Stepanova, etc.

Gollerbakh [Gollerbach], Erikh [Erich] Fedorovich [Fyodorovich, Fiodorovich] was a Russian- Soviet art critic, historian and bibliophile.
