'In 1921 in Paris Averchenko published a satirical anthology, A Dozen Knives in the Back of Revolution which Lenin described as 'a book of great talent by the embittered to distraction White Guard.' The book was reprinted in Russia in 1922 with some censorial excisions but no royalties were paid to the author.Shortly after, the Russian edition was banned and stayed in Spetskhran collections at academic libraries only till 1980s.

Paris edition was sold out almost at once and became a great rarity, especially copies in original covers. Our copy is in unusually well preserved state. Probably the best of the very few surviving copies in private hands or public collections.
